We have just learned of the sad news, that, Dave’s father Doug Franco has passed away recenlty. It has been confirmed by Betsy via Twitter

@FrancosMom: It is true that my sweet, generous husband passed away. He gave so much to his three sons and me, and to many other people, too.

As this is a fansite in which we show our love & support for Dave, we’d like to take a moment to show our support for him in his time of mourning and our condolences go out to the entire Franco Family.

Doug Franco, actor James Franco’s dad, passed away suddenly last week. He was 63. The news was just released by the family late tonight. Doug had a Harvard MBA and was a long time entrepreneur in the Silicon Valley. He leaves his wife Betsy, mother of James, actor Dave and brother Tom. Doug Franco, who was of Swedish and Portugese descent, was one of the nicest guys you could hope to meet. He was also extremely proud of his sons. He told me during Oscar week how awed he was by James’s recent accomplishments and whirlwind of activity– a nomination, the hosting, the school stuff, all of it. And it was with Doug that I happened to walk up the stairs to the stage of the Kodak Theater when the Academy Awards ended this year. He was so eager to congratulate James and take family pictures. A lovely guy, gone way too soon. Condolences to the Franco and Verne families.

I just wanted to do a quick update for a few new sections of the site.

DFO Media: I set up a media page media.dave-franco.com – It’s an archive of Dave videos (interviews, clips and photoshoots). We are still in the process of adding more videos, so, if you feel like helping out you can send us any video we don’t already have. We would definitely appreciate the help. We would love to have a collections of Dave’s videos in one place for you all to enjoy.

Icon center: Annalisa who is now part of the DFO team has set up an icon center which includes a few icons she created. Feel free to use them and once again if you wish to donate any icons of your own – send them in!

Fan of the Month: We would love to get to know all Dave fans, so, if you would like to be featured on the site as FOTM you can sign up by Contacting us with your response to the following questions.
