According to this article, Dave is wanted to play Romeo in “Rosaline” which is a film based of the book, “When You Were Mine.” More about it in the article – very glad Dave is doing so well.

The cast of Fox 2000’s period comedy Rosaline is about to get very, very pretty. Hailee Steinfeld, Dave Franco, and True Blood star Deborah Ann Woll have been offered the three leading roles in the twist on the Romeo and Juliet story. Based on Rebecca Serle’s novel When You Were Mine, the film tells the Romeo and Juliet story from the point of view of Rosaline, the jilted lover that Romeo pines for in the beginning of Shakespeare’s play. The pic is set in the 16th century, but will feature modern dialogue. Variety’s report cautions that no deals have been made with Steinfeld, Franco, and Woll just yet, and the film is still waiting for a greenlight. However, the trio signing on would probably bode well for the film’s chances. Hit the jump for more details, including who the actors are in line to play.

Variety reports that Woll is in talks to star as the title character, while Steinfeld and Franco would play Juliet and Romeo. This is a pretty great cast if you ask me. Woll is just about the only good thing left on True Blood, and Steinfeld turned a helluva lot of heads with her debut (and Oscar-nominated) performance in True Grit. Keira Knightley and Lily Collins were both previously eyed for the leading role, but I quite like the choice of Woll. The pic seems a great fit for her first starring performance in a feature film. Steinfeld was previously attached to the indie adaptation of Romeo & Juliet opposite Ed Westwick, but the report doesn’t have any mention of the current status of that project or her involvement.

The script for Rosaline was written by 500 Days of Summer scribes Scott Neustader and Michael H. Weber, and HBO’s Grey Gardens helmer Michael Sucsy is onboard to direct. Shawn Levy is producing. I’m pulling for things to come together, as I think the story is an interesting concept and I’m a fan of the cast that’s being courted.

A trio of young actors are in talks to join the cast of writer/director Jonathan Levine’s (50/50) zombie pic Warm Bodies. Variety reports that Dave Franco, Analeigh Tipton (Crazy, Stupid, Love.), and Cory Hardrict (Battle: Los Angeles) are all in line to join the cast which includes Nichoals Hoult, Teresa Palmer, Rob Corddry and recent addition John Malkovich. Hoult stars as R, an existentially tormented zombie who strikes up a friendship with the girlfriend (Palmer) of one of his victims. Franco will play Palmer’s boyfriend, who ends up leading the human resistance, Tipton will play Palmer’s best friend, and Hardrict will take on the role of one of Palmer’s dorky friends who becomes Malkovich’s right hand man.

Malkovich is in talks to star as the villain, a member of a group of humans who wall themselves inside a city known as the Green Zone. Corddry will play another zombie like R. Levin recently spoke to Steve quite a bit about the film, so if you missed it you can check out that interview here. The film itself is based on the novel of the same name by Isaac Marion.

2008 was not a good year for Rob Schmidt (Wrong Turn) or his film Bad Meat, starring Elisabeth Harnois, Dave Franco, Mark Pelegrino, Tahj Mowry, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Joe Dinicol and Samantha Hill.

You see, the company backing the film financially shut down and shooting came to a halt. An estimated 2/3 of the project was said to have been in the can. Since then, Schmidt has apparently pulled the film from his IMDb page and so has screenwriter Paul Gerstenberger and many others.

But we stumbled over some news that may indicate the film was completed.

Jinga Films is selling the project at the American Film Market in November. The company’s listing says the film is now completed and directed by “Lulu Jarmen.” Of course, there is no record of a Lulu Jarmen on IMDb and I couldn’t find much more about this person; it could be a pseudonym.

In the film, a group of so-called problem teens are sent by their parents to a repressive Boot Camp in the middle of nowhere, in the hope that the strict regime will transform them into youthful model citizens that their parents can be proud of. However the kids refuse to play ball, and tensions emerge between them as they try to resist the guards’ sadistic methods. Meanwhile, the camp’s down-trodden cook has also tired of the abuse meted out to him by the guards, and fixes them a meal of illegal, diseased meat…a final “screw you!” before he abandons the camp. But he doesn’t know that the meat is infected with a virus, which instead of simply making the guards ill as he intended, transforms them into flesh-crazed maniacs!

If our heroes are to make it to morning and survive the carnage, they must put aside their differences and work together. They’re going to learn the lessons of maturity and responsibility – the hard way…

We’ll keep you posted if we hear anything more!

A few days ago Dave’s mom tweeted about working on a short film, “Would You” with Dave. Now we know the short also stars Christopher Mintz-Plasse and both are looking for donations to help fund their project to be submitted in some film festivals.

Donations start at $1.00 and if you help donate more than $1 you can get a digital copy of the film, DVD (when available), autography to dinner with Dave if you donate more than $1500. The goal is $2,500 by Friday Sep 9, 4:13pm EDT to be used for:

- Professional colorist to take our awesome RED Epic footage and make it even better.
- A great sound mixer to help the sound of the film come alive.
- Mastering costs to get our film ready to screen at festivals in the next few months.

To find out more & to donate to the project visit kickstarter.com/projects – plus Dave tells you more about the project in a video.

Who is donating or has donated? I’m definitely donating! But how I wish I could afford $1500…
